Rules. I use them. Many subs expect them, want them. But what’s fascinating to me is that many submissive (and perhaps, Dominants) seem to equate having to ask permission for something with refusal. With a ‘No’.
I have rules that cover many different areas of living, but one rule that causes a lot of agitation from potential subs is the rule that states that (when at home and in my presence) my sub must ask permission to eat, drink, or use the toilet. What if I starve them?!?
Aside from the many obvious flaws inherent in that question (sanity, safety, free will) what concerns me is that it seems that many people seem to assume that power is derived from saying no.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
I want you to ask for permission because self determination is the most basic premise of independence, of adulthood, and I want to emphasize that now you look to me to help you, guide you, rule you. I want to be the source of ‘Yes’ in your life. I want to be the reason you can, not the reason you can’t. I want you to see me as the person who nourishes, who provides, who teaches, who enables you. I want to be a big Huge YES in your life.
Now. Don’t misunderstand me. There will be times when I will say no, or deny you. But when I do, it will be to help you as a person or as a submissive (see my post entitled “Beg Me”). It will be a ‘no’ that will bring you closer to the person you want to be.
So, Yes. I have Rules. And Yes, you will obey them.
And Yes, you will love me for it.
Oh, Yes.
